Introduction
As the Creative Specialist for Immersion Week 2024, I was responsible for developing and executing a creative strategy that brought to life the event’s theme of innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration. The event provided participants with immersive experiences through workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, engaging UBC’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The visual concept for Immersion Week 2024 was built around the theme of "Translating Inventions to Impact." The design used geometric shapes, particularly merging polygons, as a metaphor for innovation—the idea that when different ideas, people, and technologies come together, they create something entirely new with far-reaching impact.
Key Contributions
Event Branding
Designed a strong, cohesive visual identity for Immersion Week, aligning all materials with the event’s focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. This included the creation of event signage, workshop materials, digital presentations, and branded collateral.
Photography
Captured event photography, documenting key moments such as workshops, keynote speakers, and networking events. These photos were utilized in social media campaigns and post-event summaries, helping to promote UBC’s innovation initiatives.
Video and Multimedia Production
Developed videos and multimedia content that highlighted the week’s activities, including participant interviews and event recaps, used for both live broadcasts and post-event promotion.
Digital and Social Media Assets
Designed digital assets, including banners, email campaigns, and social media graphics, to promote Immersion Week 2024 and drive participation from a wide range of attendees, including students, faculty, and entrepreneurs.
On-Site Event Support
Provided audiovisual and creative support throughout the event, ensuring presentations, videos, and visual materials were delivered seamlessly to enhance the attendee experience.
Collaboration
Worked closely with the UBC Innovation team to ensure that all creative elements supported the event’s objectives and resonated with its target audience, reinforcing the theme of entrepreneurship and impact.
